Softies for Mirabel is a drive by the Mirabel Foundation in Australia to collect handmade stuffed animals for children who had been orphaned or abandoned due to their parents drug addiction. Once a year, they ask crafters to make softies and send them to provide the kids with a friend to snuggle with.
I finally managed to mail the stuffed animals I made yesterday morning. The deadline for arrival in Australia is December 7th, but I kept pushing back my planned mailing date in hopes that I could squeeze in time to make a few more softies.
In the end, I had time to make 6 stuffed creatures: a fluffy cloud (that my sister thought looked more like a clove of garlic), a butterfly, a little blue blob, a pair of Wood Sprites, and another blob that I decided to call Senor ‘Stache. I’m hoping to make some random ones between other projects for the drive next year.
